With a steady stream of pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra in the State, the total number of pilgrims who have undertaken the pilgrimage since Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri were reopened on May 10 and Badrinath on May 12 has crossed nine lakh. According to information provided by the authorities, as on Thursday 9,61,302 people had visited the Char Dham shrines since the start of the pilgrimage.

According to official data on Thursday, 35,652 people visited Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district on the day while a total of 4,24,242 have visited the temple so far. In the Chamoli district, 18,416 people visited Badrinath during the day while a total of 1,96,937 have visited the temple so far. Similarly, in the Uttarkashi district 12,800 people visited the Yamunotri temple on the day while a total of 1,76,932 have visited it so far whereas 11,701 people visited Gangotri on Thursday with 1,63,191 have visited the temple so far.

It is pertinent to mention here that though the government was expecting pilgrims numbers this year to break past records, the unprecedented numbers this year resulted in some issues in crowd and traffic management during the initial days of the Char Dham Yatra. The authorities state that the situation has improved now and that the pilgrimage is being conducted smoothly.
