Harbhajan Sends Message to the Future India Coach: Rahul Dravid’s run as India’s men’s cricket team coach will touch the finish line once the T20 World Cup 2024 gets its curtain down. The question of who will take the hottest chair in the world of cricket is still to be answered.
Speculations have been on the air since BCCI invited applications for the coaching position. Though BCCI has revealed that Rahul Dravid can reapply if he wants to continue as the coach, this is highly unlikely.
There are the names of a few foreign coaches rumored to be considered, including the likes of CSK coach Stephen Fleming and DC coach Ricky Ponting. But BCCI has recently shut down, saying that the board hasn’t approached any foreign coaches yet.
This increased the talks about former Indian players being considered for the job, and two of the names that have been active in the news are KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir and GT’s bowling coach Ashish Nehra. Gambhir winning the IPL with Kolkata has improved his chances of becoming the coach of the Blues.

Harbhajan Sends Message to the Future India Coach
Whoever takes the chair, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has a clear message to convey. Talking to PTI Harbhajan, he said that ‘the main job of the coach would be to bring everyone together and work as a unit’. He also brushed off his chances of being the coach, as the spinner hasn’t filled out the application for the role.
“I don’t know whether Gautam Gambhir has applied or not. These are just speculations. Even my name was doing the rounds, but I haven’t submitted my papers. It is not about the names of those who have applied or not. The main job of the coach would be to bring everyone together and work as a unit. Whether Gambhir or Ashish Nehra coaches the national team, they would need to bring the players on the same page. If I am given the job, I will work in the same direction. The results should improve from the previous team,” Harbhajan Singh said.
India will commence their journey in the T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5. The much anticipated India vs Pakistan match will be on June 9 in New York.
