The results of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2024 were announced on Sunday, revealing that Ved Lahoti from the Delhi zone has secured the top rank. This year, 48,248 candidates have qualified the exam.
JEE Advanced is the gateway to admissions in the prestigious 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Students who clear JEE Mains and meet the cut-off are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. This year, IIT-Madras conducted the exam.
A total of 180,200 candidates appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE Advanced 2024, out of which 48,248 have qualified. Among the qualified candidates, 7,964 are females.
Last year, 43,773 candidates had cleared the exam.
Ved Lahoti secured 355 out of 360 marks, becoming the all-India topper. Aditya, also from the Delhi zone, secured the second rank.
Dwija Dharmeshkumar Patel from the IIT Bombay zone is the top-ranked female candidate, scoring 332 out of 360 marks.
In terms of zone-wise performance, the Delhi zone had the highest number of qualifiers with 10,255 candidates, followed by IIT Bombay (9,480), IIT Kanpur (4,928), and IIT Bhubaneswar (4,811).
The top ten candidates include four from the IIT Madras zone, three from IIT Delhi, and three from IIT Bombay. The second rank was secured by Aditya from the IIT Delhi zone, followed by Bhokgalapalli Sandesh from the IIT Madras zone.
Other top ten candidates include Rhythm Kedia (Roorkee), Putti Kushal Kumar (Madras), Rajdeep Mishra (Bombay), Dwija Dharmeshkumar Patel (Bombay), Koduru Tejeswar (Madras), Dhruvin Hemant Doshi (Bombay), and Alladaboina SS DB (Madras).
In the top 500 candidates, 145 are from the Madras zone, 136 from the Bombay zone, 122 from the Delhi zone, 48 from Roorkee, 27 from Bhubaneswar, 17 from Kharagpur, and 5 from Guwahati.
According to IIT-Madras, the aggregate marks for the rank list are calculated as the sum of marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Candidates must meet both subject-wise and aggregate qualifying marks to be included in the rank list.
This year, the qualifying marks for JEE Advanced increased, leading to a rise in the minimum percentage of marks required in each subject and the aggregate for inclusion in the rank list. For example, the minimum percentage marks in each subject for the common rank list increased to 8.68% from 6.83% last year, while the minimum percentage of aggregate marks increased to 30.34% from 23.89% last year.
The qualifying score for JEE Advanced for the unreserved category increased to 93.23 from 90.7 last year. Similarly, the cut-off for Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) increased to 79.6 NTA Score from 73.6; for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates, it increased to 81.3 from 75.6; for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, it rose to 60 from 51.9; and for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, it increased to 46.69 from 37.23.
