Is Imad Wasim faking his injury to play T20 WC? Ex-PCB chief selector makes huge allegations

Following Pakistan’s crushing loss to India, Muhammad Wasim, who served as chief selector from 2020 to 2022, has made his accusations public on Imad Wasim.

Former Pakistan chief selector Muhammad Wasim has levelled serious accusations at all-rounder Imad Wasim. He has alleged that the Pakistani southpaw, who is currently playing the T20 World Cup 2024, is hiding a long-standing knee injury by claiming to have a rib issue.

“Imad Wasim’s injury won’t stay hidden”

Imad Wasim missed crucial matches recently, citing a rib injury. These matches include the Pakistan’s T20 World Cup opener against USA. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also confirmed “discomfort in his right rib cage.” However, Wasim, the PCB selector from 2020 to 2022, alleges this was a cover-up for a recurring knee problem.

Wasim raised concerns on Samaa TV: “A lot of revelations will come out. They won’t stay hidden. If you’re claiming a rib injury, and it’s actually a knee injury… It’s a long-standing injury that you can see while running between the wickets, while bowling, and while fielding.”

This allegation comes after Imad played in the high-voltage India-Pakistan T20 World Cup clash. While his bowling was economical, his batting (15 runs in 23 balls) couldn’t prevent a miraculous victory for the Men in Blue.

Muhammad Wasim criticized the PCB for potentially compromising team dynamics by prioritizing experience over fitness. He questioned bringing back players “who prefer the financial side… over their country.” This comment could be interpreted as a jab at senior players, possibly including Imad himself, who has recently signed a deal to play in CPL 2024 alongside the likes of Mohammad Amir and Fakhar Zaman.
