Mohammed bin Sulayem, President of the FIA, chaired the FIA Annual Conference held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan recently. The conference witnessed the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Federation, where it received more than 300 guests representing 167 member clubs in the sports and transportation sectors from 121 countries.
Also announced were a new three-year “Wear a Helmet” program, a “Women’s Mentorship” program in motorsport, which was launched in conjunction with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and all-new Cross Car designs.
The association has also developed plans to link social impact into its sustainability roadmap. Other key agenda items included the 120th Anniversary Session, led by the Transport Section, which included all four FIA Regional Presidents. The week concluded with the extraordinary general assembly held in the conference center hall. Assembly members discussed key amendments and updates, including the program of events and the FIA’s 2024 annual financial report.
