PM Modi to Inaugurate Development Projects in J&K, Launch Key Initiatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to mark a significant milestone today with the inauguration of multiple development projects in Jammu and Kashmir, underlining the theme of ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’. The event, scheduled at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), will witness the Prime Minister launching various initiatives aimed at bolstering infrastructure and enhancing opportunities in the region.

Among the highlights, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for 84 major developmental projects worth over Rs. 1,500 crore. These projects span crucial sectors such as road infrastructure, water supply, and higher education infrastructure. Additionally, he will inaugurate key projects including the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section and the establishment of six Government Degree Colleges.

A focal point of the event will be the launch of the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture & Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP), valued at Rs. 1,800 crore. This ambitious project aims to benefit 15 lakh beneficiaries across 90 blocks in 20 districts of J&K, emphasising the government’s commitment to agricultural development in the region.

In anticipation of the event, a government spokesperson remarked, “These initiatives underline our resolve to empower the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and uplift the region through enhanced infrastructure and economic opportunities.”

Furthermore, PM Modi is expected to interact with young achievers from J&K, symbolising encouragement and support for the region’s promising talent.

NEET-UG 2024: Supreme Court to Address Fresh Petitions on Alleged Paper Leak

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is bracing for a pivotal session tomorrow to address fresh petitions calling for the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024 examination amidst allegations of a paper leak. The controversy has been compounded by recent revelations, including the award of grace marks to over 1,500 candidates and perfect scores for 67 students.

EAM Jaishankar’s Bilateral Visit to Sri Lanka 

In a separate diplomatic development, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to embark on his first bilateral visit abroad since assuming office for a second term. His visit to Sri Lanka underscores India’s steadfast commitment to its ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’ and seeks to bolster mutual cooperation across various sectors, including connectivity projects.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted, “Minister Jaishankar’s visit reaffirms India’s enduring friendship with Sri Lanka, our closest maritime neighbour. It aims to enhance collaborative efforts for shared prosperity and regional stability.”

Jaishankar’s forthcoming visit follows his recent participation in the G7 Outreach summit in Italy, marking a proactive engagement in global and regional diplomacy.
