Should President Biden Resign? Yes. Should He At Least Announce He Will Not Accept The Nomination In Chicago? Yes. Will He? Probably Not.

Contributor John Schroeder makes an argument below that I told him already I don’t agree with but found interesting and I can see how some might conclude that President Biden’s performance was so awful that it must have been planned and talking points distributed. It doesn’t work that way though. No one saw that disaster coming. If anyone told the president “Don’t!” he didn’t listen to them any more than Iran or Putin listened to Biden when he said “Don’t.”

Neither the First Lady nor long time Biden loyalist and former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain –who captained debate prep for Biden– would never have cooperated with such a deeply embarrassing display of infirmity and incoherence. The president and his closet advisors did their best, and it was just so awful no one could have anticipated it. The universal shock from liberal-to-left network and cable anchors could not have been rehearsed, and even now there are efforts to rally the troops going on among die-hard, hard-left partisans on “X” who realize that Vice President Harris is ill-equipped to govern for six months in the event of a resignation or win if she became the nominee. (And how would the Democratic Party not fracture for decades to come if she was rejected by the Democratic Convention?) Even if she asked Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to be her running mate, thus locking up the Keystone State, Harris is a terrible candidate no matter how well stage-managed, and very likely to lose in November. Of course, most predicted President Trump would lose in 2016.

My full assessment of Biden’s debacle from my AM program is in my new pod this morning over at “Highly Concentrated Hugh.”

As the day proceeds and then staggers to a close under the weight of blue bubble shock and dismay, my senior producer Duane Patterson will collect more second-and-third takes and put out a special edition of his new podcast which began this week. After three decades of producing talk radio, and 24 years as senior producer of my program, as well as hosting “The Aftershow” over at “The Hughniverse,” our premium site, Duane is now going to leave less and less on the cutting room floor, and put out brand new stuff and he’s just the best at this.  “Duane’s World” should be added to your podcast feed because as a producer (and occasional guest host) for center-right talk radio and now the Salem News Channel for three decades, Duane has a fabulous ear for news, especially the key sound bytes and headlines of the day, as well as an encyclopedic command of music. The late, great Tony Snow tried to lure Duane to the east coast back when Tony began his radio show, and Tony knew what he was doing. I forgave him as all is fair in the world of broadcast, but Duane is a life-long child of the Golden State, and won’t be going anywhere until Gavin Newsom turns out the lights (literally, as the CA grid fails just as surely as the budget Grand Canyon gets bigger.

So, don’t be depressed, and don’t trust most of network and cable news. You can trust Duane:
