Virat Kohli is King of Kings: Kris Srikkanth is not worried about the Indian Opener’s form ahead of the final against South Africa

Former India cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth feels Virat Kohli’s form is not a worry for India heading into the final of the competition. Notably, Kohli has had his worst T20 World Cup campaign ever having scored just 75 runs from seven innings at an average of 10.71 with a strike rate of 100.

Kris Srikkanth’s praise on Virat Kohli

Kohli’s highest score of the tournament came against Bangladesh when he scored 37 off 28 balls with the help of one four and three sixes. His second-best innings was a run-a-ball 24 against Afghanistan. Apart from that, he has scores of 1, 4, 0, 0 and 9 to his name. Despite his poor outings in the tournament so far, Srikkanth feels there’s nothing to worry about Kohli calling him the ‘king of kings’.

“There’s no problem with Kohli not having a big score. He’s a king of kings, my dear friend,” said Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

Kohli has been asked to open the innings for the first time in T20 World Cup and has found it tough to adapt to the new role. In order to accommodate Shivam Dube in the middle order, Kohli was pushed up the order with Rishabh Pant taking his place at number three.

While Pant has been the third-highest scorer for India with 171 runs from seven innings, Dube hasn’t fired in the middle scoring just 106 runs from seven innings. Meanwhile, India will take on South Africa in the final on Saturday, June 28 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. The Men in Blue sealed their spot in the summit clash with a thumping 68-run win against England in the second semi-final.
