The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has unveiled the 28-member Indian athletics team set to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Among the notable athletes is Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Olympic and world champion in men’s javelin throw.
Neeraj Chopra made history three years ago by becoming the first Indian track and field athlete to win an Olympic medal—a gold—in the javelin throw event. His remarkable achievement continues to inspire athletes across the nation.

Neeraj Chopra, now a seasoned competitor, will lead the Indian contingent in his pet event—the men’s javelin throw. His powerful throws and technical prowess have earned him accolades globally.
Joining Neeraj Chopra in the javelin throw competition is Kishore Jena, an Olympic debutant. Together, they aim to make a significant impact on the world stage.
In the women’s category, Annu Rani, who clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games last year, will represent India in the javelin throw event. Her consistent performances make her a strong contender.
The Paris-bound squad includes several athletes who were part of the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics.
Avinash Sable: Men’s 3000m steeplechase athlete.
Tajinderpal Singh Toor: One of Asia’s top men’s shot putters.
Priyanka Goswami: Women’s race walker.
Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob, and Subha Venkatesan: 4x400m relay runners.
Jyothi Yarraji: Ace hurdler.
Abha Khatua: Shot putter.
Parul Chaudhary: Steeplechaser (competing in both 3000m steeplechase and 5000m race).
Race Walkers: The men’s 20km race walk event will feature Akshdeep Singh, Vikash Singh, and Paramjeet Singh Bisht. Meanwhile, Priyanka Goswami will be the sole Indian representative in the women’s 20km race walk.
Unfortunately, Murali Sreeshankar, who met the entry standard in the men’s long jump, won’t be able to participate due to an injury. However, fellow long jumper Jeswin Aldrin remains a hopeful candidate for the final list.
